TikTok Shop to expand across Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands and Poland from 15 June

TikTok Shop goes live for shoppers and sellers in Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands and Poland on 15 June, adding four markets to a European roster that already covers France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Spain and the UK. The move extends TikTok's bet that discovery, not search, is the next front in European eCommerce.

The distinction matters for operators. Conventional online retail is search-first: a shopper knows what they want, types it into a box, and compares results.

TikTok Shop inverts that, surfacing products inside entertainment — shoppable videos and livestreams in the For You feed — so demand is created rather than captured. The platform reaches around 200 million people across Europe each month, a top-of-funnel audience most DTC brands pay dearly to access elsewhere.

What the data shows so far

TikTok reports that more than 100,000 European businesses have joined since its EU launch across late 2024 and early 2025, and that daily gross merchandise value grew at triple-digit rates between August 2025 and February 2026 across its first five markets. Those are platform-supplied figures with no independent verification, and "triple-digit growth" off an early base is easier to post than to sustain. Still, the direction signals real seller adoption rather than a soft launch.

The expansion's strategic core is 'Sell Across Europe,' an intra-EU feature rolling out shortly after launch. It lets a seller in one market localise listings and ship into the others using TikTok-partnered logistics or approved carriers, and tap an EU-wide creator affiliate network on commission. For a smaller European brand, that compresses the usual friction of multi-market expansion — translation, fulfilment, local marketing — into a single platform. It also deepens TikTok's lock-in: the more cross-border infrastructure a seller builds on the app, the harder it is to leave.

The format rollout is staggered. In-feed and live shopping, product showcases on brand profiles, and third-party secure checkout arrive at launch; the dedicated Shop Tab marketplace begins reaching users in the new EU markets from July. To support local sellers, TikTok has tied into regional logistics and courier networks in each new country.
