Terms of Use

Acceptance
These terms govern your use of thecheckout.eu (“the Site”), the newsletter, and any related products published by The Checkout. By visiting the Site or subscribing to the newsletter, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Site.
Who we are
The Checkout is an editorial publication operated under the Venice Founders Network. References to “we”, “us”, and “our” mean The Checkout. References to “you” mean you, the visitor, reader, or subscriber.
Content and intellectual property
All editorial content on the Site — articles, market moves, reports, charts, photographs, illustrations, and design — is owned by The Checkout or licensed to us, and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property rights.
You may:
- Read the Site for personal or internal business purposes.
- Share article links on social media or in private communications.
- Quote short extracts (under 100 words) for commentary, criticism, or news reporting, with a clear attribution and a link back to the original article.
You may not:
- Republish, syndicate, or commercially redistribute our content without our written permission.
- Use our content to train machine learning or generative AI models without our written permission, beyond what is permitted by applicable law.
- Remove or obscure attribution, copyright notices, or our branding.
- Scrape the Site at a rate or in a manner that disrupts its operation.
Acceptable use
Don’t use the Site to do anything illegal, infringe anyone’s rights, transmit malicious code, attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems, or interfere with other users’ access. We may restrict or block access from any user who breaks these rules.
Newsletter and accounts
You can subscribe to our newsletter by submitting your email address. You confirm that the email address is yours (or that you have permission to use it) and that you’re happy to receive editorial emails from us at that address. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send.
Newsletter delivery and email handling are processed by Beehiiv. See our Privacy Policy for what we collect and how we use it.
Editorial accuracy and no advice
We work hard to publish accurate, well-sourced editorial. That said, content on the Site is provided for general information only. It is not financial, legal, tax, investment, or professional advice and should not be relied on as such. Decisions you make based on what you read here are your own.
We may update or correct articles after publication. Where a correction materially changes the meaning of an article, we’ll note it in the article itself.
Sponsored content and partnerships
Some articles, market moves, or features may be sponsored or include sponsored placements. Where a piece is sponsored, we mark it clearly. Sponsorship does not buy editorial control: our reporting and opinions remain our own.
Third-party links and content
The Site links to companies, investors, websites, and services we don’t control. We’re not responsible for the accuracy, content, or practices of those third parties. Following a link is at your own discretion.
Disclaimer of warranties
The Site is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent permitted by law, we make no warranties — express or implied — about the operation of the Site, the accuracy of its content, or its fitness for any particular purpose. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under mandatory consumer-protection law.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Checkout, the Venice Founders Network, our staff, and our contributors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Site or its content, even if we’ve been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability to you for any claim arising under these terms is limited to £100 (or the equivalent in your local currency). Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law (including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud).
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change. Continuing to use the Site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales — except where mandatory local law in your country of residence gives you a non-waivable right to a different forum.
