Love Bites Only lands Whole Foods UK listing

The London-based brand's natural roll-on will debut in whole foods this month.

Love Bites Only, the London-based natural insect repellent brand founded by Bree Nolan, is launching in selected Whole Foods Market stores in the UK this month.

The listing is the brand's first major grocery placement and follows a soft launch across the UK festival circuit in summer 2024. The brand's 10ml plant-based roll-on will retail at £9.95 from April 2026.

What's in the product

The roll-on is formulated with 100% natural, plant-derived ingredients, designed both to deter biting insects and to soothe the skin in the moments when application is missed or bites still land. The 10ml format is positioned as an everyday carry product rather than a specialist outdoor purchase — compact enough for a handbag, with packaging intended to sit alongside the rest of a consumer's personal care lineup.

The range is free from synthetic fragrance, vegan, and cruelty-free, and meets Whole Foods Market's Body Care Quality Standards, the retailer's ingredient gatekeeping framework that excludes hundreds of commonly used personal care ingredients, including many synthetic preservatives and fragrance compounds.

Why it matters

Insect repellent has historically been one of the most commoditised aisles in UK grocery, dominated by functional, utility-first brands such as Jungle Formula, Smidge, and Incognito, and typically marketed in the visual language of outdoor gear rather than personal care.

Love Bites Only is part of a broader move to pull legacy utility categories through a beauty and wellness filter. The pattern is familiar: Wild and Salt & Stone did it for deodorant, Vacation and Ultra Violette for suncare, Who Gives A Crap for toilet paper. In each case, challenger brands have used design, ingredient transparency, and considered formulation to lift a commodity category into premium personal care shelf space.

The Whole Foods UK listing matters less for unit volume — the retailer operates only seven stores, all in and around London — than as a validation moment. A Body Care Quality Standards listing is a natural-credentials benchmark that typically opens conversations with other premium grocers, department store beauty halls, and specialist pharmacy chains.
