Baker & Baker, one of the UK's leading bakery product manufacturers, has acquired Lazy Day Foods, a free-from bakery based in Harthill, North Lanarkshire.

Founded in 2006, Lazy Day makes around 75 lines free from gluten, milk, eggs and nuts, supplying branded and private-label products to Tesco, Sainsbury's, Morrisons and Waitrose from its purpose-built site. The deal gives Wirral-based Baker & Baker its first Scottish manufacturing base, taking it to five UK sites and a workforce of 2,650, and marks its second acquisition as a standalone business after buying a Portuguese pastel de nata facility in 2022.
The move is pitched as a bet on the fast-growing free-from segment, combining Baker & Baker's scale and retailer relationships with Lazy Day's specialist expertise. The brand will be retained and marketed to Baker & Baker's UK and international customers, with the Harthill site and its roughly 190 staff kept on.
"We're delighted to welcome Lazy Day Foods into the Baker & Baker family," said CEO Matthew Acheson.
